2005 MAHIEU SPRING INTRODUCTIONS
DARKEST BEFORE DAWN garden shots
The righthand image shows the super extended blooming habit:  three blooms opening, one fully open.  Also note the great foliage and branching.

DARKEST BEFORE DAWN field shot, yeah, it's a big flower!  Brian in background.  Photo courtesy of *MaryAnn Pruden:
"Its not the best picture I've taken (LOL) but it really shows the sunfastness of DBD.  I took the picture at 2:21pm and it was pretty hot that day (at least 90s) and full sun."

Note how purple the bloom is, even in the very yellow light of afternoon!

[(TRAHLYTA x OKLAHOMA KICKING BIRD) X (SATCH MO x BLUE VENTURE)]
30 M 8 SEV NOC EXT 3 way branching 24 buds, pod fertile, pollen appears sterile*

This huge Unusual Form Daylily is a super extended bloomer -- it takes 2-3 days to open fully and in cool weather the bloom can last 48 hours!  Blooms open blackish purple and mature to a velvety blackish grape purple with a white picotee on all segments.  Lemon-chartreuse throat.  The shape, rich color and extended bloom habit make this an incredible contribution to the Unusual Forms class.

*upon registration I thought fertility was the opposite.  My apologies, I will get the registration ammended.
