I started this painting of Ebey’s Landing on December 31st, but It got dark quickly and I had to go back the next day and finish it. The sky was totally different, but I prefer this moody version. Quite a few fir needles stuck in the paint as I was painting on this windy evening, to me those are trophies of authenticity. I had to lay the painting flat on the bluff and work standing over it for a period of time.
This painting was given one of three Merit Awards by artist/juror Catherine Gill of Seattle. In the exhibit Weather or Not. She selected the artworks from 175 entries.
