This scene stopped me my tracks one spring morning. It perfectly captures my fascination with liminal moments of being. It was twilight with some illumination from the, still hidden, sun causing the distant bluff to glow—yet dark enough for the moon to illuminate the water. A cool May morning, the sky slipping from deep lapis tones into shades of turquoise and lavender—fortelling a cloudless morning sparkling with dew.

I used eight blues to create this painting: Prussian, Anthraquinone, French ultramarine, Pthalo green shade, Pthalo red shade, Manganese and King’s blue. I think some are unphotographable.
