Molten Sunset—Harbor View

I am enjoying the challenge of painting a landscape viewed through a screen of trees. The push/pull between near and far is satisfying and fits well with how I work—from dark to light and far to near, then back and forth. On this August evening a molten sunset transfigured our Whidbey Island landscape with luscious tropical hues. This powerful little painting is alive with vibrating color and muscular impasto effects.
